Since the Gauss Rifle makes an amazing Sniper Rifle, this is probably the best weapon possible for that build, especially if you can get a good Legendary variant (two-shot!). In fact, I'm almost certain there is no enemy in the game a two-shot gauss rifle won't one-shot at the appropriate distance, maybe a legendary ancient behemoth if such a thing exists.
